Day trip to France

We decided to go over to France for lunch on the Bank Holiday Sunday.  Paul booked a table in a lovely restaurant called Le Bruegel in a little town called Bergues just south of Dunkirk.

This was very popular and filled up almost as soon as it had opened.  Quite a large restaurant with various rooms off the main hallway.  It is well worth a visit.  After lunch the sun came out and we walked down the street along the canal to the wall which surrounded the town.

Some flowers from one of the town gardens.  I don't know what they are called but they were so pretty!

Sunday afternoon

It was such a lovely day that we decided to cycle down to the beach after doing all our chores.  It was very crowded down there and cycling in and out of the pedestrians who seem to think that they are the only ones entitled to use the promenade gets more and more frustrating.  There was nothing down there that caught my eye but we caught sight of the swan family on the way back so I took a couple of pictures there....

After work tonight

Wanted to get out while the sun was still out after sitting in the office all day.  I was lucky enough to see the swans again.

This blackbird was making so much noise - not a very good shot but I like it!

I think this is a scilla. It's in the front garden of a neighbour's house and looks so pretty

The scent from this lilac was delicious.  It is one of my favourite flowers.

Decided to brave the weather today and went for a walk along the seafront at Sandgate and up into Enbrook Gardens where the Saga Building is.  Unexpectedly came across some lovely rhodendrons pictured below.  Shortly after popping into the Sandgate fish and chip shop for a saveloy and chips to eat on the seafront, the skies opened, so back to the car with our lunch tucked under our waterproofs to finish eating!
